Opportunities Aroostook

Opportunities Aroostook Opportunities Aroostook is the premier online job board to find employment opportunities and job appl

“Opportunities Aroostook” is ambitious project to help grow the 18- to -44-year-old population in the region through a social media campaign, job-posting website and workforce development efforts. In the first step of the project, a paid intern will create social media sites, which will highlight jobs, events, quality of life and other reasons to locate or return to Aroostook County.
“We hope

to engage alumni associations, local media and others to spread the reach of the social media efforts,” said LEAD Executive Director Ryan Pelletier. Once the social media component grows a more formal jobs website, created by Northern Maine Media in Houlton, will go online.
“Opportunities Aroostook” grew out of the Aroostook Partnership for Progress (APP) Education to Industry initiative, which looks to connect high school and college students with emerging jobs in The County, but even if the region retained every student projections indicate there still wouldn’t be a large enough workforce to meet needs.
“I think this is, if done correctly and used by the business community, this is a tremendous potential for getting the word out and attracting folks back here,” said APP President Bob Dorsey. “Also the social media component will help keep the younger generation informed of what the opportunities are.”

The Town of Madawaska and the Office of Economic & Community Development are excited to welcome the Aroostook Women’s Network to the St. John Valley for their “Marketing with AI” session on May 18 at 5:30 PM at the Inn of Acadia.

Ladies of the St. John Valley… this one is for you. 👀
We all say the same thing around here:

“Nothing ever comes to the Valley.”

Well… when something does come to the Valley, we actually have to leave the house and support it. 😂

And this one is worth showing up for.

If you own a business, work for an organization, run social media, have an idea you’ve been sitting on, or just want to understand what everyone means when they say “AI” without feeling like you need a computer science degree… come.

This isn’t some stuffy conference where everyone awkwardly clutches coffee and avoids eye contact. It’s real conversation, practical ideas, networking, and a chance to connect with other women across the region who are building things, creating things, and trying to move their communities forward.

Also, let’s be honest… half of us are already using AI without realizing it, and the other half are convinced it’s either magic or the beginning of the apocalypse. 🤖😂

Plus, it’s a room full of ambitious women from around the region, which usually means:
✔ good conversations
✔ new connections
✔ at least one person saying “wait… ChatGPT can do WHAT?”

Bring a friend, bring your coworker, bring the friend who sends you Facebook reels at 2 a.m. and says “we should start a business.” 😅
Let’s actually support the things we keep saying we want in the Valley. 💙
