Our Plan for Success
The Five Elements

1. The First Element of our Plan is the The Gauvin County Scholarship Fund
a. We will provide a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior in select high schools in The County (please see our website for eligibility details)
b. These scholarships will be given to students who plan to attend one of the 4 colleges in Aroostook County or Thomas College in Wate

rville
c. Its priority will be first-generation & economically disadvantaged college students
Our 10-year goal is
a. To be able to give more than 100 scholarships to students in the county for multiple years of their college career
b. To raise an endowment of $5,000,000 to fund these scholarships

This is NOT just a scholarship fund…

2. The Second Element is our Annual Aspirational weekend
We will hold an annual aspirational weekend to
a. Work with the students on areas such as financial literacy, self-confidence, goal-setting, job application, etc. Provide business leaders who will speak with the students regarding job availability in The County and attest to the fact that our youth can stay in Aroostook and be successful
c. Help students who are interested learn about entrepreneurial skills and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur
d. Complete a service project in Aroostook County at the end of each of these weekends

3. Summer Internships is the Third Element
a. We will create summer internships for the students to help them understand the career they are pursuing, meet others in that profession, created experiential opportunity, and network with potential employers/co-workers/employees
4. An Entrepreneurial Program is the 4th Element
a. We will host an entrepreneurial program for our older graduates to encourage and help those who want to become entrepreneurs gain skills and knowledge that will help them stay in Aroostook County
5. We will hold an Annual Gala as our Fifth Element to showcase and celebrate our scholarship recipients, educational personnel, and school districts

You may recall seeing one of our original Gauvin Scholars featured in our holiday letter that went out last month. Abbey Clair is one of many Aroostook County youth that were worried about how to pay for college, but thanks to YOUR support, she was able to pursue her bachelor's degree at UMPI and then continue to earn a Master's after that! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Abbey now works at Northern Light A.R. Gould hospital, loves being a mom and is raising her family right here in Aroostook. What can we do today to continue helping move Aroostook youth forward and helping them become leaders? πŸ€”

Please consider visiting us at https://aroostookaspirations.org/ and making a donation today to support their aspirations! Thank you in advance for your generosity this holiday season ⛄️

We've been busy helping our 2021 Gauvin Scholars successfully navigate their very first semester of college! We met with them virtually this past week to discuss their community service projects for spring 2022 😊 They will be visiting their old high schools to speak with this year's seniors about what college is like and what kind of scholarships are available to them! If you have a senior this year, please let them know about our scholarship if they are looking to stay in Aroostook County to further their education!
