The Yavapai County Jeep Posse (YCJP) is an all volunteer organization dedicated to serving the needs of the citizens of Yavapai County in Search and Rescue missions, as well as County-wide Wildland Fire evacuations. Working under the direction of the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the Posse provides the mobile 4X4 units required in these life-saving activities through the dedication of Posse mem

bers’ time, vehicles, and equipment on a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week, year-round basis. In addition, the YCJP Communications Squad staffs the Posse’s Forward Communications Vehicle (FCV) during search, rescue, fire evacuation and other missions.

Congratulations to the newest members of Jeep Posse! Bruce and John both completed a six month probation period along with the required YCSO and YCJP training. They have both demonstrated the skills required to be valuable members of the Jeep Posse! Bravo Zulu!!!

Jeep Posse received the early morning call and jumped into action along with YCSRT 4x4. We worked together as a team and made our way to the gentlemen in need. We ended up doing a little maintenance with a chainsaw on a large tree that had fallen in the recent storm. It was blocking our entrance to cross the water. Who brings a chain saw with them off-roading??? The Jeep Posse does😀. The story ends the best way possible everyone safe and rescued from a bad situation….

Who gets up at 2:30 am and decides to drive out past crown king on the back way down to lake pleasant? Well the Jeep Posse members do! We received a call from YCSO that a family was stranded and stuck. We jumped to action and spent the remainder of the night and most of the morning helping them out. 2:30 am isn’t the first choice to go off-roading but when people are in need that’s what we do!

We are blessed to have a great team of leaders from YCSO!!!

To say the Jeep Posse has been busy this month would be an understatement! Besides the regular training and business meetings we have been working the Pocket fire since Friday evening manning road blocks 24/7. We also responded and evacuated people near Mayer Saturday evening due to a fire . We responded to an additional fire Sunday and supported comms for a stranded person on Monday afternoon. And if that wasn’t enough many of us participated in a joint training with YCSRT 4x4 unit in crown king last week! We have a great bunch of volunteers who put people in need as a priority!
