Our thoughts and prayers are with the good people of Australia. Thousands of people and animals have lost their homes and lives. It is difficult to take in. In 2013 and a few years after, Dozens of Australia Bush firefighters came out to show their support for our community when we lost our 19. These people are strong, courageous, dedicated humans with hearts of service. We pray for their safety and the great country of Australia. .bushfires

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lieutenant Menard's family, friends and department. Rest easy brother๐Ÿ’”

It was supposed to be Lieutenant Jason Menardโ€™s last shift before his vacation. He and his family were scheduled to leave in just a few hours for a long awaited trip to Disney World. Just before 1 a.m. this morning, Lieutenant Menard and the firefighters from Ladder 5 received a call for a fire at a three story residence in Worcester, Massachusetts. As they arrived on scene and began to battle the blaze, it quickly escalated to a four alarm fire. With Jason in command, the firefighters searched through the heavy smoke and flames for a baby that was reported as still trapped inside. While on the third floor, the firefighters became cut off by the fire and were unable to escape. Lieutenant Jason Menard heroically and selflessly saved his crew, helping a probationary firefighter to the stairs and then returning to rescue another firefighter, assisting him out the window. Fire conditions eventually overtook the entire third floor and Lieutenant Menard perished in the fire. Jason was a husband, a father of three and a 9-year veteran of the Worcester Fire Department. He was remembered as a passionate fire officer who absolutely loved being a firefighter. Jason took his job very seriously and performed it admirably. He was 39 years old.
