And Miss Leah’s spicy red beans...

I miss da powdered sugar
On my Morning Call beignets...
I miss walkin’ wit my lover
In Audubon Park on rainy days...

I miss my spearmint snoballs
From Hansen’s and from Sal’s...
I miss da Bourbon Street strip joints
And drinkin’ Hurricanes wit my pals...

Do you know what it means
To miss New Orleans...
To miss da beautiful traditions
And da French Quarter scenes...

I miss da long rides on da streetcar...
And da Preservation Hall jazz...
I miss da Galatoire’s trout meunière...
I miss da sounds, like no other city has...

I miss da long grey moss...
Dat hangs from da oak trees...
I miss da New Orleans Saints...
I miss Archie and Drew Brees...

Do you know what it means
To miss New Orleans...
To miss da Mardi Gras Indians...
And dem Mardi Gras queens...

I miss da crooked politicians...
I miss da potholes in da streets...
I miss riding da Pontchartrain Zephyr...
And dem sugary praline treats...

But most of all
I miss da good ole days...
Of drinkin’ cold longneck Dixie beer
All night at Miss Mae’s...

I love everything about New Orleans...
Da good, da bad and da sleazy...
So dat’s what is means to me
When I start missin’ Da Big Easy...
