Arizona Serve

Arizona Serve We connect passionate People to transformative projects to fight poverty. Poverty affects us all. As Martin Luther King Jr.

said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Currently, 15% of people in Arizona are living in poverty, including 24% of young children. Through alleviating poverty, we increase the potential of our whole community. Bringing people together is the best way to solve problems and overcome challenges. Our communities are safer, healthier and more prosperous when we know each other, h

elp each other and work with each other. Service strengthens the fabric of our community. Service cultivates people’s strengths, creates connections and relationships, and builds capacity and sustainability for community non-profits. Arizona Serve places AmeriCorps VISTA members in projects and organizations that work to fight poverty and improve their community’s quality of life. The work of VISTAs encompasses three main goal areas:

Social Welfare
Community Development
Civic Engagement

Our AmeriCorps VISTA members are placed in projects and organizations including schools, non-profit organizations, community groups and faith based organizations.

Welcome to Mobilize Monday — a new series dedicated to inspiring service, leadership, and community impact. Each Monday, we’ll share quotes that reflect the heart of national service and encourage our past, current, and future members to keep showing up for their communities.

At Arizona Serve, we connect passionate people with community projects that fight poverty, strengthen local nonprofits and public agencies, and build healthier, more connected communities across Arizona. Through AmeriCorps service, our members turn compassion into action — creating lasting impact for others while growing as leaders themselves.

How are you showing up for your community?

We are proud to partner with Prescott's Community Nature Center! Arizona Serve is excited to have members volunteering service hours with the Creeks and Watershed program!
Prescott Unified School District’s Creeks and Watersheds program provides Granite Mountain Upper Elementary fifth graders with hands-on environmental education, based around conservation of the Upper Granite Creek watershed. Over the course of the program, students explore local ecosystems through field trips to our Community Nature Center, Thumb Butte, Granite Dells, Prescott National Forest, Sharlot Hall, Watson Woods, and the Prescott wastewater treatment facility. They learn about pollution prevention, water conservation, and forest health, culminating in a week-long camping trip to Mingus Mountain. The program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to become the next generation of Prescott's environmental stewards.
