Arizona Serve We connect passionate People to transformative projects to fight poverty. Poverty affects us all. As Martin Luther King Jr.

said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Currently, 15% of people in Arizona are living in poverty, including 24% of young children. Through alleviating poverty, we increase the potential of our whole community. Bringing people together is the best way to solve problems and overcome challenges. Our communities are safer, healthier and more prosperous when we know each other, help each other and work with each other. Service strengthens the fabric of our community. Service cultivates people’s strengths, creates connections and relationships, and builds capacity and sustainability for community non-profits. Arizona Serve places AmeriCorps VISTA members in projects and organizations that work to fight poverty and improve their community’s quality of life. The work of VISTAs encompasses three main goal areas:

Social Welfare
Community Development
Civic Engagement

Our AmeriCorps VISTA members are placed in projects and organizations including schools, non-profit organizations, community groups and faith based organizations.

Join us in this very special podcast episode of "This AmeriCorps Life" as we celebrate Prescott College turning 60! 🎉

In honor of the six decades of change, learning, and significant impact brought by Prescott College, we sat down with Sara Reveile, a fellow Prescott College alum, former AmeriCorps service member, and Arizona Serve’s very own AmeriCorps Programs Manager!

In this episode, we discuss Sara's journey with AmeriCorps, how Prescott College shaped her passion for public service, and explore what "Legacy in Action" truly looks like for them today.

Tune in to hear our conversation about the power of serving in honor of Prescott College’s 60th Birthday!

In celebration of Prescott College's 60th Anniversary, we're sharing some of Arizona Serve's own archival photos, now on display in our Prescott office in the Juniper building on campus. To preserve our rich history, we've also started a Volunteer & Civic Engagement Memory Book, inviting current and former Prescott College students, AmeriCorps members, and staff to contribute. Arizona Serve founder, Maggie Garvey, is pictured in photos 1 and 2, and is the niece of current Prescott College President, Dan Garvey.

Our story began in 2006, when Yavapai County agencies saw a gap in services and brought together a small team of AmeriCorps VISTA members to fight poverty. After several members stayed on to develop the Yavapai County VISTA Project, we became Serve Yavapai and a program of Prescott College in 2009. In 2013, we expanded to Pima County, thus becoming Arizona Serve.

Today, we are proud to have one of the largest and top-performing AmeriCorps projects in the state of Arizona, with around 80 AmeriCorps members serving in Prescott, Phoenix, and Tucson. Our staff, all former National Service members, foster a collaborative team environment dedicated to supporting communities in the fight against poverty.

To all of our alumni, we thank you for paving the way to a brighter future. We are honored to carry the torch forward!
