Please join YTA on October 17th as we continue brushing trail #40 Clark Spring. All volunteers welcome, you do not need to be a member of Yavapai Trails Association. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear (see attached flyer). Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult and have signed parental permission (we have the document, just ask us for it) RSVP required (so we can make sure we have enough tools available).

Thank you for keeping your eye on the trail. Sometimes when it takes years to complete, a project can be forgotten. We are so thankful to Chris and all these volunteers that this one has never been forgotten. The Prescott Circle Trail is a true gem. Thank you for completing our dream.

Rock climbers and conservation advocates are celebrating a win this week after the Trust for Public Land and Prescott Climbers Coalition announced that there is now permanent protection of 10.5 acres in Upper Sullivan Canyon near Chino Valley. This effort transferred the last privately owned section of the canyon to the town of Chino Valley, ensuring long-term public access and oversight.

The land will join other protected lands that are forming a growing park system, expected to become the Verde Headwaters State Park.

“Upper Sullivan Canyon is a rare place where outdoor recreation, cultural history, and vital watershed protection all come together,” said Michael Patrick, senior project manager for Trust for Public Land, hailing the deal as "preserving the ecological and cultural significance" of the area.

Members of the Prescott Climbers Coalition say the canyon’s dramatic basalt columns have attracted visitors since the 1970s, offering year-round climbing and training grounds for local search-and-rescue teams.

Mayor of Chino Valley Tom Armstrong said the town is proud to take ownership of the canyon, and they are working to grow its reputation as “Arizona’s Outdoor Fun Place.”
