The Golden Eagles Flight Team continues to strive to be the best competing flight team in the nation. The Golden Eagles Flight Team has taken home 13 National Championships and 36 Regional Championship. The team works hard all year to represent their university well. Practicing a minimum of 4 days per week as a team, the Golden Eagles Flight Team is dedicated to excellence and competitive superiority.

As of May 23, 2026, the 2026 National Intercollegiate Flying Association National SAFECON has officially come to a close. The Golden Eagles Flight Team finished third overall in the nation and placed first in the ground events championship.

With multiple top-10 finishes and one individual national champion, we are incredibly proud of the effort and dedication our team showed throughout the competition. We would especially like to congratulate Southern Illinois University ( ) on an outstanding performance and their first-place national finish this year.

We also want to thank NIFA (.aero) and all of the volunteers and judges who made this year’s competition possible.

Safe travels to everyone heading home, and we hope you all have a great summer!

Our final graduating senior: Ethan Michon!
Ethan served as the Golden Eagles Flight Team Captain during the 2025-26 competition year and has been with the team for 4 years. Having recently hit 1000 hours, Ethan plans to fly at Republic as a first officer after graduating. Everyone wish him a congratulations!

Featuring our graduating senior, Co-Captain Samuel Low! Samuel has been a part of the Golden Eagles Flight Team for 4 years, participating in a variety of events. His favorite memory on the team was winning message drop at regionals. Samuel plans to control after graduation while also doing corporate flying! Everyone wish him congratulations!!

Presenting graduating senior Jamison Wettergren! Jamison served as the Selections and Morale Officer for the 2025-26 competition year, guiding both prospective and current team members through events and activities. Jamison plans to pursue a Masters in Safety Science and instruct with the university. Everyone wish him congratulations!!

Featuring graduating senior: Meikha Navalta!
Meikha has been a part of the Golden Eagles Flight Team for 4 years competition in both Computer Accuracy and Message Drop. Having studied Air Traffic Control, she plans to control at an ATC facility after graduation. Everyone wish her congratulations!!

Lilly has been apart of the Golden Eagles Flight Team for 4 years and currently holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate and CFI/ii. Lilly plans to instruct with the University before flying for Delta Airlines. Everyone wish her congratulations!!

Featuring our next graduating senior, Ziad Elsherbiny!
Ziad officially graduated in Fall 2025 after having spent 3 years on the Golden Eagles Flight Team. With both CFI and CFII completed, Ziad plans to instruct with Embry-Riddle. Everyone congratulate him for the new adventures ahead!
