What an incredible night! 🦃

Our Yavapai Yelpers NWTF Hunting Heritage Banquet was a huge success, and we are beyond grateful for the overwhelming support from our community.

A huge thank you to our amazing committee members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event happen. Your time, dedication, and passion for conservation truly made the night special.

Thank you as well to the leadership and volunteers within NWTF who continue to support our chapter and mission. Your guidance helps us keep conservation and our outdoor heritage strong.

And most importantly, thank you to everyone in our community who attended, donated, bid in auctions, and participated in the games. Your support directly helps fund conservation efforts, youth programs, and outdoor education right here in Arizona.

We are so proud of what we accomplished together last night. This is what happens when a community comes together for a great cause.

What an incredible week for Arizona at the National Wild Turkey Federation Convention & Sport Show!

We are beyond proud to celebrate Roy for receiving the Roger M. Latham Service Award — one of NWTF’s most respected honors, recognizing outstanding dedication and long-term service to our mission.

On top of that, Arizona was recognized with the 2026 L.A. Dixon Memorial Award – Outstanding State Chapter (5,000–7,499 Members) – Second Place — a national honor that reflects the strength, passion, and hard work of our entire state team.

These awards represent leadership, service, conservation impact, and countless volunteer hours poured into protecting our hunting heritage.

Roy, thank you for your heart, your commitment, and the example you set for all of us. Arizona is proud. 🦃👏

This morning, members of our chapter had the opportunity to assist with a successful wild turkey relocation effort in partnership with the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

A total of 29 wild turkeys were captured on private property in Unit 27 and relocated to Unit 19A. While the turkey population in Unit 19A is currently stable, this relocation was an important step in improving genetic diversity and supporting the long-term health of the local flock.

As part of this project, three turkeys were released back into Unit 27 wearing GPS tracking backpacks, allowing biologists to monitor movement patterns and gain valuable insight into habitat use. Several turkeys released into Unit 19A were also equipped with tracking devices, providing critical data that will help guide future management and conservation efforts.

We were proud to have chapter members and families involved in this hands-on conservation work. Experiences like this highlight the importance of collaboration between landowners, wildlife professionals, and conservation organizations.

Thank you to Arizona Game and Fish for their continued partnership and dedication to wildlife management, and to everyone who helped make this relocation a success. This is conservation in action—and a great example of the mission of the National Wild Turkey Federation at work here in our community. 🦃🌲
