“Tony Lutz declared that God was literally his “shield.” George has spent 20 years learning that sometimes the shield doesn’t take the form we expect — that, in the hands of a grieving father with a producer’s mind and a desire to protect the memory of the fallen, it looks like a flag.”

Memorial Day is every day: Our military families never need a reminder of their fallen sons and daughters. For a Gold Star Family, every day is personal Memorial Day. ⭐ 🇺🇸

Memorial Day serves as a reminder to our nation of the losses suffered by military families and an opportunity to pay tribute to their sacrifices and support those who remain behind. You may know one, but there are thousands.

Gold Star: A family you would never choose to join…can never leave and would never pass on to another.

Each year, the president signs a proclamation reaffirming our nation’s commitment to honor the individuals “who carry forward the memories of those willing to lay down their lives for the United States and the liberties for which we stand

Memorial Day is a time to pause to remember and give, honor, and respect to Fallen Veterans who never returned home for which this National observance was created.

The ceremonious Flag-Folding is a tradition at Military funerals, but do you know the message behind the 13 folds? Listen and soak in the scope and breadth of its true intent and honor.

This beautiful and very moving ‘Flag-Folding Ceremony’ is performed with particular precision. Every movement has a special meaning, often pointing to our spiritual roots as a Nation and the principles on which it was founded. The Flag-Folding ceremony honors the Soldier and demonstrates respect for the family.

We think a narration should be provided at each ‘Flag-Folding Ceremony’ so that everyone can gain a deeper understanding. Please turn the volume on.

🇺🇸 The NASCAR Memorial Weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway is the crown jewel to Race Fans, the longest race of the year, and a very special time to honor our Nation's Military sacrifices.

“We’ve been working on and evolving this for a long time and the collaboration with NASCAR, Charlotte Motor Speedway and the race teams has been tremendous. It allows us to bring families that have been grieving to a place where they can not only lose themselves in the pomp and circumstance of an amazing race weekend, but they can also realize and recognize that their loved one has been embraced by a community that really gets it.” - George Lutz, founder of Honor and Remember

We are grateful that NASCAR recognizes the importance of calling attention to and celebrating the many lives lost and shows appreciation for all fallen hero families with a positive message of thanks. A unique alliance continues to bring a national spotlight to all of our Nation's Military Fallen and their Families.

⭐ Every Lap Carries a Name: As part of the 12th year of the program, military recognition will once again be front and center as each NASCAR Cup Series car and accompanying track vehicle will feature the name of a fallen service member on the windshield in the Coca-Cola 600 Miles of Remembrance, creating a powerful tribute.

⭐ These heroes gave their lives defending this country. Each on had a story. Visit the Gallery of Heroes 👉 https://www.nascar.com/gallery/2026-600-miles-of-remembrance/

⭐ Moment of Silence - NASCAR will initiate a mid-race pause where all engines will go silent for the unfurling of a 6500 sq. ft. HONOR and REMEMBER Flag for one of the most powerful moments in sports history.

“As Coca-Cola proudly celebrates America’s 250th anniversary throughout the year, this Military Appreciation Month is especially meaningful,” said Don Rouse, Vice President of Sports & Entertainment at Coca-Cola North America. “NASCAR Salutes Together with Coca-Cola is a cornerstone of our partnership.”

Honor and Remember will again collaborate with NASCAR teams to host Gold Star Families at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the 600 Miles of Remembrance. This year, Honor and Remember and NASCAR are calling on race fans to sign the Declaration of Remembrance, recognizing the nearly 1.4 million service members who have lost their lives in military service over the country’s history.

As a NASCAR IMPACT partner, Honor and Remember is working toward a goal of 1.4 million signatures by Memorial Day Weekend 2026 – a symbolic tribute of one signature for every fallen hero.”

🇺🇸 “We are humbled that Goodyear has taken this significant weekend to send this specific message of appreciation for our nation's fallen heroes and their families. Goodyear is establishing a precedent to reach millions with this important message.” ~ Honor and Remember Founder George Lutz

Goodyear to run “Honor and Remember” sidewall at Charlotte Motor Speedway: Since 2010, for one weekend each NASCAR season, Goodyear has changed the sidewall branding on its racing tires as a show of support for the United States military and fallen heroes. This being the 16th year of that program, the official tire supplier to NASCAR’s top three series worked with the “Honor and Remember” organization. The standard “Eagle” on the tires’ sidewall will be replaced by the Honor and Remember logo on all Cup Series, NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, and Craftsman Truck Series tires at Charlotte Motor Speedway this week, as is part of the industry-wide effort known as “NASCAR Salutes.”

Honor and Remember is a national organization based in Virginia that has a mission to “perpetually recognize the sacrifice of America’s military fallen service members and their families.” The organization recognizes fallen military personnel from all wars or conflicts, and those from all branches of service. They do so primarily by dedicating the specially designed Honor and Remember flag, which is intended to fly continuously as a tangible and visible reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense of our national freedoms. – NASCAR First Alert
