🌹 Today, on National Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day, we share a truth that military fallen hero families carry every single day—a truth that many who haven't experienced military life may not fully realize. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲; its high price is paid by these families every single day.

“We first held them as babies. We remember them as children playing in a yard, blowing out candles, taking their first steps. We remember them as the ones we loved.

The reality is nobody was ever killed peacefully in action. Knowing that will rip your heart apart when you think of someone you love and always will.

You may know one or several, but there are thousands of Military Fallen Families. This is a club no one wants to join. But this is where we are. And 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲… Remember them as 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱.”

Sacrifice brought us together. 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘂𝘀.

🌹 Today, on National 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we pause to honor and comfort the families of our nation's fallen heroes.

This vital American tradition reminds us of 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻. Drawing from my personal experience after losing my son Tony in Iraq, I know these 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 for perpetual remembrance. The Honor and Remember Flag serves as a public symbol assuring over a million Gold Star family members that their sacrifice is seen and never forgotten.

For the first time in the history of Honor and Remember, 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗕𝗕𝗤 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗢𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Honor and Remember Flag will be raised at MISSION BBQ locations across the country in recognition of America’s fallen service members and the families who continue to carry their sacrifice.

Since its founding, MISSION BBQ has made honoring America’s military, veterans, first responders, and their families central to its culture. For nearly two decades, Honor and Remember has carried a complementary mission: to establish a visible national symbol of remembrance for all U.S. military service members who gave their lives in service to our nation and to ensure that their families know their loved ones will never be forgotten.

The largest field of Honor and Remember flags. This isn't just a display; it is a sacred space of remembrance. As you walk among the thousands of flags rippling in the wind, you are walking through the living history of our local heroes—the brave men and women from Oregon and Washington who gave everything for us since 9/11.

⭐ Gold Star Children’s Day: They carry a hero’s legacy every day.

Today, on Gold Star Children's Day, we pause to recognize some of our nation's quietest heroes... the children of our fallen service members.

HONOR and REMEMBER remains passionate about comforting, honoring, and supporting our nation's military surviving children. They have endured so much and remain living legacies of their fallen parents' service and sacrifice to America.

In honor of Gold Star Children's Day, we are reminded of the hundreds of gifted flags that have touched the lives of those who never met their parents or knew them for a very short time. No matter the age, they are never be forgotten.
