This photo was one of many taken when we knew the MGB's layout's days were numbered. This area of the layout has seldom been shown on Facebook. Yes, this is Toilet Bowl. No, really, that's really this area's name. The Royal Flush Plumbing Company is just out of view at the bottom of the photograph. The roundhouse at Bardstown yard can be clearly seen and that's the president of the railroad, Magnus Gunstream's personal heavyweight passenger car spotted beside the roundhouse. It's a busy day at Thelma Lou Lake. Trains are moving in both directions over the water while nearby, a couple of intrepid souls climb Mt. Pilot. Down below, two canoeists keep a watchful eye on a nearby alligator on the rocks. This photo was taken on May 2, 2015.

Not everyone in Bailey County was happy with the county commissioners when they decided to pass an ordinance allowing bicyclists to use the full width of all county roads. In this photo, a couple of folks are enjoying this freedom on County Road 13 in Jericho. We can only imagine what the motorists backed up behind them are thinking!

Shay locomotive number 2 is slowly making its way westward around Mt. Pilot in this photo taken on February 16, 2006. Those of you that know anything about Shays (or just logging locomotives in general) know that they are not fast, but they are powerful. That was what was called for when it came to moving heavy log racks - power, not speed. Note that the ballast has yet to be laid down on the "red" mainline in the foreground.

This photo shows an ALCO S1 ( #661) spotting a hopper at the Cox & Son Sand and Gravel Company, located at Cox's Gap. At this point in time (February 12, 2009), the ballast had not yet been laid down.

At first glance, this looks like a pitiful photo. It's dark. The subject is rather indistinct. The colors are mostly faded. But just for a moment, use your imagination. Can you smell the odor of the lake just below? Do you hear the water lapping at the bridge piers? Can you hear the cicadas all around you, making the air vibrate with their incessant buzzing? Do you feel just a little chill run up your spine as you feel the ground vibrate under the approaching locomotive? Is it a dream? Or is it a reality? You decide.

It's a hot, summer afternoon, and EMD NW2 #100, in Denver and Rio Grande Western livery, is slowly shoving a cut of hoppers into the yard at Coalton. This photo was taken at the MGB's layout on September 26, 2013.

Folks at the MGB Model Railroad Club still talk about the time the big Union Pacific "Challenger" number 3985 passed through. In this photo, the big locomotive is seen moving across the Barry Teague Memorial Bridge at "walking speed". The date was Saturday, May 18, 2013. The canoeists down below don't appear to be paying the event much attention. They're probably more concerned with keeping an eye out for alligators alongside Thelma Lou Lake (the drought makes it look more like Thelma Lou Creek, though!)

In this "flashback photo", Union Pacific #1036, an EMD NW2 - Phase II switcher, is working after dark at the Beaver Creek Industrial Park. Folks "in the know" will recognize this location as being on the setout/pickup (SOPU) track at the west end of the park.
