Meet Morgan; she was born with a proximal femoral focal deficiency, which meant her left leg was shorter than her right. At six months old Morgan began her journey at Shriners for Children Medical Center. After surgery, fitting for a prosthetic and therapy Morgan now enjoys things she would not have been able to experience without the treatment and therapy she received at Shriners for Children Medical Center. Morgan's favorite things are hiking, tap dancing, ballet, gymnastics and participating in Kids fun runs. "It has been such a benefit to have the special expertise that Shriners brings from years of experience with specialized orthopaedic cases and the more rare conditions," says mom.

Born in Shanxi, China, Mahlia was severely burned in a house fire as an infant, leading to the loss of both her feet. At the age of 3, she was adopted by her loving parents, Erienne and Kevin, who soon made the choice to bring her to the Springfield Shriners Hospital for prosthetic services. Mahlia’s care at our facility has allowed her to walk to the best of her ability and live her daily life with little to no trouble at all.
