Special Tuesday Special Tuesday Beau Porto is a Non Profit Agency founded in 1994 as a free summer activity program for all people with disabilities in our community.

In 1994, Bobbie Blanchard began Special Tuesday in honor of her grandson, Beau Porto. Her idea was to provide a few days of carefree fun for special needs children and their families. The event offers food and lots of fun and games. Blanchard's inspiration came from her grandson Beau, who was diagnosed as an infant with a rare metabolic disorder. The disorder caused neurological damage and develop

mental issues. Beau was only 1 of 40 known cases worldwide, 8 of those being in Louisiana. Beau's life expectancy was 5 years old, but he blessed his family with 14 wonderful years before succumbing to his illness in 2000. The first ever "Special Tuesday" was held at Bobbie's home when Beau was aged 7. There were only 5 children in attendance, but the day was so special for them that Bobbie wanted to make sure the fun would continue. She vowed to provide a safe and accepting environment for children with special needs and their families if only for a few days each year, a simple chance to step away from a world that can be cruel and difficult. From those humble beginnings, Special Tuesday has grown to include over 300 people! A special THANKS to those that make Special Tuesday possible--BASF, Atmos, Ascension Parish School Board, Mike Anderson's, Tee Wayne's, Volunteer Ascension, and numerous volunteers. Yesterday marked the first of our four Special Tuesdays in June, where incredible individuals with special abilities came together for a day of pure joy!

From games and dancing to delicious burgers, nachos, popcorn, and ice cream, the smiles were endless.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who help make these days so special. We know you leave with more joy than you ever expected from this wonderful group! Can't wait for the next one!

Morning St Amant Community. Santa will be stationed at Station 60 on Stringer Bridge Road Monday December 9th.
We Unfortunately can’t bring Santa & his Sleigh Out on the Wet Roads Tonight. So We will Have Santa & His Sleigh station St Amant volunteer Fire Department off of stringer bridge road tonight 6-8. We either have drive thru & or get out & come see Santa. Hot Chocolate & peppermint candy’s for All our Little Girls and Boys w Santa.
**** We are collecting unwrapped toys & can goods for our less fortunate family & Kids in Our Community as well ***
