📞 Why Didn’t a Rehabilitator Answer Your Call? 🐾
Spring means baby season—and wildlife rehabilitators are in overdrive! With an influx of injured and orphaned animals, our phones are ringing nonstop.
Please keep in mind: most wildlife rehabilitators are volunteers. Many work full-time jobs (sometimes two!) and have families and other obligations outside of wildlife care. If we don’t answer the phone, it’s likely because we’re feeding babies, providing medical care, out on a rescue, or shoving food in our mouths.
📱 Texting is often faster than calling—and including a photo of the animal or situation can help us assist you more quickly.
📬 If you call, please leave a message with your name, town, and a short description of the situation. If we don’t get a message, we have no way to help!
Even if we can’t take the animal ourselves—due to space, permits, or species—we’ll do our best to refer you to someone who can. You can also use www.ahnow.org to search for licensed wildlife rehabilitators nationwide.
Thank you for your patience and kindness. We’re doing our best for the animals—and your support means everything. 💚🦉🐿️🦆
