Meet one of our newest Rotary members, Justin Mezera!
Justin was born and raised right here in Prairie du Chien. He and his wife, Anna Zeeh, share their home with two dogs, Abby and Ophelia. Justin enjoys golfing, reading, football, and even plays in the Prairie du Chien Tuesday night dart league.

He works on the business side of Wolf Machine—handling payroll, accounting, invoicing, and all the behind‑the‑scenes tasks that keep things running smoothly. Justin joined Rotary to help connect Wolf Machine more with the community and because, as he says, Lindsey and Logan made it sound like a blast.

From his very first meeting, Justin felt welcomed and appreciated. His favorite part of Rotary so far? Learning just how much our club does to support Prairie du Chien. “There’s always a fundraiser or event the club seems to have a hand in,” he shared.

We’re grateful to have Justin’s energy and community spirit in our club!

📣 Interested in joining Rotary?
We’re always looking for new members who want to make Prairie du Chien stronger. Message us here on Facebook, email [email protected], or reach out to any PDC Rotary Club member to learn more.

Last week we welcomed Mike Wallace and Brennen Clark to our Rotary Club meeting to share more about the Fort Fun Renovation project. They covered the planning process, fundraising efforts, and how playground equipment was chosen.

A special highlight: Fort Fun is designed as an all-abilities playground, and our speakers shared the thoughtful care that went into making the new Fort Fun playground welcoming for everyone.

There is still time to make donations to the project, and all donations received by September 21 will be included on the Fort Fun donor wall - https://driftlessdevelopment.charityproud.org/Donate

Thank you to the Fort Fun Committee for your hard work on this amazing project! 🛝

Rotary loved hearing from Terri Payne last week about her new business, Recharge PdC! Terri talked about the process of finding, purchasing, and remodeling the former Shopping News building, what’s coming next for Recharge, and why she felt this kind of wellness space was needed in our area. Recharge offers a variety of restorative self-care options members can access individually or through a membership pass. We are lucky to have these great services available in our community! 🪷🌿

Thanks to the Prairie du Chien Rotary Club for inviting Great Rivers United Way staff Mary Kay, Connor, and Jennifer to share with its membership all of the good we're up to down in PDC, including free book-gifting program Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and third-grade reading tutor program Read to Success!

We're looking forward to continued partnership with this enthusiastic group of community leaders! 💙💛

We had a perfect day on Monday for Mississippi River Adventure Day 2026, hosted by the Rotary Club of Prairie du Chien! About 110 kids and chaperones joined us for a fun day of hands on learning and outdoor exploration.

Participants rotated through six educational stations:
⚡️ Electrofishing – Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
🎣 Casting & Lures – Prairie Rod & Gun Club with Cabela's
🐾 Furs & Skulls – Effigy Mounds National Monument
🐌 Macroinvertebrates - Osborne Nature Center-Clayton County Conservation
🦇 Bat Education – Wisconsin Bat Ambassadors
🐟 Mussels & Fish – Genoa National Fish Hatchery

A huge thank you to Dunkin' in PDC for keeping our volunteers fueled with donuts & coffee, Zinkle’s Piggly Wiggly for providing lunch for everyone, and Compeer Financial for sponsoring the colored bandanas that helped our explorers stick with their groups all day long.

Thank you for helping us make this a memorable day for kids to connect with the Mississippi River and learn more about the world around them!

Thank you to today’s Rotary speaker, Howard Wendland!

Howard has spent his career in electrical energy creation and distribution, and he shared some incredible stories from his work around the world. Having traveled to 60+ countries, he’s helped establish National Control Centers and power grids for numerous nations.

He also gave us a glimpse into his current projects, which are in the planning stages of electrical grid development to support the growing energy demands of AI data centers.

It was interesting to hear how much thought and planning goes into the systems that power our everyday lives. We appreciate Howard taking the time to speak with us today and for sharing a bit of his career journey with the club!
