Pete: we had so many good talks. I let you report late so you could maintain your job of 20-some years out of state. You weren’t the only one to benefit from these “accommodations.” You taught me so much about addiction. You supported my thoughts and frustrations of lack of services for people like you. You inspired me to make a change and form my own nonprofit to combat this disease.

You thrived, you fell, then got back again through our years in our nonprofit venture. You kept me grounded and patient, and for that, I’ll never forget you.

We went to the same high school with a culture of drugs and alcohol use. I get it. I’ll always remember your struggles and what you went through, as a dad/husband/hard worker/addict. You were the namesake of our mission and our work helping other addicts. I was blessed to know you and I’m sad you left this earth too young!

I’ve told you 100 times, the fight continues with or without you active and I’ll continue in your memory. It matters.

Thank you for always Peter Zibrowski honest and “you.” Your family loved you so much! I pray for you and your family! RIP and fly high, Peter! ❤️

I got out of the Army in 2017 and was going through a divorce and became homeless. I spent the next couple of years living in the back storage room of the bar I was working at. I was in and out of the hospital for severe alcohol withdrawals. My mental health had deteriorated so badly and my physical health along with it. My daughter was living in Alaska and I was back in California. Two years ago my ex wife decided to move her to Virginia and I had enough money saved up to get out of the storage room of the bar and move to Virginia as well. I didn’t get away from drinking myself to death though. I kept drinking and many more hospital stays later I finally had my last run in with the police. It finally opened my eyes and I had to change. Now 126 days completely sober and have my daughter back in my life full time. I’m so glad I was arrested because I was on track to never seeing 31 years old.
