Veterans Memorial Update
If you have passed through Prairie Farm recently, you may have noticed that the “colors have been raised” over our Memorial. Lights have been installed, and our flags now fly around the clock. A formal flag raising and Memorial dedication will take place at a future date. Hopefully, late summer, early fall. No date has been set.
Memorial marker, “paver,” sales have caused us to pause construction momentarily, as we have nearly outgrown the spaces originally estimated to meet our needs. Of the 168 spaces we initially planned for, 158 have been “sold” and another four are pending. Rather than try to expand later, after landscaping and additional lighting have been added, we have decided to act now, before construction is too far along. Expansion will take place over the next several months.
We continue to take orders for Memorial markers, and gladly and gratefully accept donations to our project. Donations and orders may be sent to American Legion Post 259, PO Box 151, Prairie Farm, WI 54762.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our community, the Prairie Farm school district, the families of veterans no longer with us, and those area businesses that have donated time, labor, and materials to our cause. They will be recognized by name during our dedication.
Memorial Day services will be held on Monday May 25th at 10:00, at Pioneer Park, Prairie Farm. Please join as we honor our Nation’s many veterans. A chicken dinner fund raiser will immediately follow services. Volunteers to assist with serving dinner gladly welcomed!
