A little about RKs:
“My husband’s parents, Rose and Keith Pokorny, opened RK’s (see what they did there?) Bar & Grill 28 years ago in June 1995 in the tiny village of Malmo, NE. It was Keith’s dream to own a bar, and he and his personality were made to be a bar owner. Rose and Keith raised four children while owning the bar, including my husband, who was just a year old when they bought it. He literally grew up in the bar. Fast forward through many successful years to 2020 when COVID hit. Keith and Rose remained steadfast that they would remain open, or at least as much as possible with the CDC regulations. Our customers rallied. We were slammed with to-go orders night after night, and our customers kept us open during those tough months. Then, the unthinkable happened. On December 7th, 2020, Keith suffered a massive stroke and passed away at just 66 years old. We were utterly lost. After days that felt like years, my husband and I decided the best course of action was to step in for his dad. My husband quit his job, which was our main source of income and benefit provider, and jumped in head-first to help his mom keep his dad’s legacy alive. Anyone who met Keith remembered him, and he was the heart and soul of the bar. One of his many signatures was his Moscow mule. He loved to play around with different alcohols and flavors to create new mules, served in the trademark copper mugs. To this day, we still
make “Keith’s mules.” My husband and his mom work day in and day out to keep Keith’s dream alive and successful." -Allison
