Join the Poynette Area Historical Society for our monthly meeting on Monday, September 22nd at 7 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room of the Poynette Village Hall. The topic will be “How Poynette got its name,” presented by Pam Elsing. Our monthly meetings are free and open to the public.
Pam will also talk about how Dekorra and Arlington were named. And many ‘huh, I didn’t know that!’ Interesting bits of area history. A train crash with area 8th graders, the Grateful Dead in Poynette and WWI soldiers. Come and share your memories too

Do you remember Doctor Focke? The July meeting of the Poynette Area Historical Society will be held on July 28th at 7pm in the second-floor Civic Hall of the Poynette Village Hall. A DVD will be shown from a prior dinner theater presentation, “Dr. Focke and the Poynette Hospital”. The meeting is open to everyone - the public is welcome to attend.

Join the Poynette Area Historical Society for their monthly meeting on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00am at the Poynette/Dekorra Fire Department/EMS building located at 606 Water Tower Road in Poynette. Ernie Koepp will give a tour followed by a presentation on the history of the Poynette Fire Department and restoration of the 1912 Howe Fire Pumper engine that had originally been purchased by the village and owned by the Poynette Fire Department. Ernie will also talk about the 1925 Reo fire engine that is still owned by the department. The public is welcome. Park on the south or west side of the building and enter through the south door. Hope to see you there!

The Poynette Area Historical Society’s monthly meeting will be held on May 12th at the DeForest Library from 6-7:30. The subject will be the DeForest Historical Society, and will include a tour, a speaker and refreshments. The public is welcome.

The Poynette Area Historical Society’s monthly meeting will be held on March 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room of the Poynette Village Hall. The topic will be “The History of the Jamieson House Restaurant” with Linda Kohl, who, with her husband, helped establish the restaurant. Feel free to attend and bring a friend. Monthly meetings are free and open to the public.

Thursday afternoon, 2/20/25, at 1:30 there will be a presentation (and time for questions) on Recollections Wisconsin at the Poynette Area Public Library. This is a website that is popular throughout Wisconsin. Libraries and Historical Societies are working with a group in Madison to preserve history and digitize as much as we can for the future. Members of PAHS are collaborating with the Poynette Library. Feel free to attend the presentation and bring a friend.

The next meeting of the Poynette Area Historical Society will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 9:30 am at C.B. Gilbertson’s Grocery Store located at the corner of Co. Rd. C and Co. Rd. DM in Keyeser. The store will be closing permanently soon. The public is welcome.
