With high school football starting this Friday, we would like to ask anyone participating, whether it’s playing, cheerleading, spectating, whatever. In honor of Zander, wear either his number 52, or his initials ZG somewhere on you. Cleats, helmet, eye black, wherever you feel comfortable. Don’t forget to keep this family in your prayers!!

Although we are no longer a program, we are still a family. Zander along with his family helped our football and basketball program in many ways. Zander always helped cleaning up after games, helping any way he could by running chains, helping in the concession stand, doing anything he could, and his help did not go unnoticed.

He was genuinely a great kid and had such a kind heart and soul. The loss of him breaks all of our hearts in so many ways.

If you could keep his family in your prayers for the following days, and year.

Zander as one who got to coach you in football for many years, I always loved your heart for the game and for your team. You always gave me 100% and wanted to do your best no matter what. I’ll remember you for the rest of my life buddy.- Coach Juicebox

Here is the post we have dreaded having to make. There will be no more Basketball from us at Claxton. Unfortunately things have changed and we have been given limited days and hours to use the gym. We have tried to configure every which way possible to make it work and the fact is that we just can't come up with a solution. We would need to have our last game at 3pm in order to clean and be out of the gym in the time allotted by the administration and we would only be allowed 3 days to fit it every teams practice.
On top of having our normal Anderson county sheriff there during the games they have now required we pay a school employee to be on site all day on game days.
So with all those factors in play, having basketball just isnt feasible.
Sports at Claxton has always been a safe haven for so many children in our community. A place to get energy out and interact with others. It breaks our heart to not be able to provide that to this community anymore.

We wanted to reach out to the community and say thank you for all the love and support you have shown. Just like you, we hate the thought of not having a football program. Once again this was voted on by the school board and is out of our control. At this time we are not commenting or messaging back. We have to put our focus on basketball since that is all that we have left.

It is with a sad heart that we announce there will no longer be a football program in Claxton. This decision was out of our hands. Dr. Parrott informed us that the school will be adding on and will take over the football field to do so. We know our program was loved by many and we will miss seeing you all play a sport you love. We wish there was a different outcome from the decision. We wish you all well in your future.

Also to let everyone know, there has not been a decision made for basketball yet. As soon as we know we will be sure to relay the message.

Once again thank you to all who have been apart of our program through all the years of us running it.

As the news of losing one of our former Claxton sports kids has made it's way through the community today, We would like to send our deepest condolences and prayers out to Jay Gillette's brothers, family and friends. Jay became family to several kids in our community and our hearts are broken over the grief they are feeling right now. Jay was loved by many throughout the years he played in our program and he will be sorely missed by former coaches, players, and every person he touched and had an impact on. 💔🙏🙏- Kayla, Sulie & Juicebox

We are sad to inform you that we recieved an email from Dr Parrott yesterday that states that due to the rising cases of COVID-19 no outside organizations will be allowed to use the gym. So we are sad to say that we will not be having a basketball season this year. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy!! We want to wish all our seniors that would have played this year good luck in their future. We have loved watching you play Basketball throughout all these years.

Update about Basketball:

We got an answer from Dr. Parrott on Friday that no outside activities will be allowed in Anderson County schools until January. So that means we won't start our basketball season until after the first of the year. We are committed to figuring out a way to schedule a season even with this later start date. In December when Dr. Parrott looks at the way things are with the virus, and gives us a definite confirmation that we can use the gym for basketball utilizing the standard procedures of COVID-19 precautions (temperature checks, social distancing in the bleachers, etc) then we will start sign ups on the website and do a couple in person sign ups.

Due to the difficulties of Covid, we are not allowed to use the facilities at Claxton Elementary school. The location we were trying to use for practice fell through, and with Norwood no longer able to use their field with us, we would be traveling to all games, we have decided to sit this season out. We have been working hard trying to get things locked in but it has not worked in our favor. We apologize for the late notice and hope to see you all back next year with us!!
