Both 1294 and 2294 had an amazing weekend.

Troop 1294 had an amazing time this past weekend at Fort Mountain! They went hiking to test their backpacking gear and practice valuable skills in the backcountry. The boys hiked five 5 miles on the Gahuti Backcountry Trail on Saturday, sourcing their water from natural springs on the trail and navigating with a map and compass. They enjoyed lunch and some fellowship time next to an awesome waterfall and many breathtaking views along the trail. Additional real world problem solving experience included navigating across a ravine around a bridge that was destroyed by a massive tree fall. This process involved creating a human chain, sending all of the backpacks and gear across the chain to the other side and finally helping each other down the same chain to the other side.
The Scouts worked very well together as a team, adapted when necessary and problem solved with ease.

Troop 2294 had a great weekend at Lake Conasauga and Fort Mountain. They attended a program by the Forestry Service about all the species of fish and aquatic wildlife located in the lake before doning wetsuits and snorkel gear to get an up close view of the fish. They used team work, leadership and bonded as troop. They even got to enjoy a stop at Buc-ees!

We are looking forward to the next Scouting adventure and would love for you to join us!

Thank you to all the Scouts that came out today to take part in the Memorial Day ceremony at the Ford Center in Powder Springs and a special thank you to Greg Redner, Commander post 294 for supporting both Troops 1294 and 2294.
