Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary 2027 Scholarship Program

The Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary is pleased to announce our 2027 Scholarship Program for graduating seniors!

To be eligible, applicants must reside within the Arlington Central School District. This includes students attending Arlington High School as well as private schools.

📚 How to Apply:
Your high school guidance department has the information and application needed to apply for our scholarships.

Students who are homeschooled should contact the Arlington High School Guidance Department for an application.

📧 Email submission is strongly encouraged this year.

📅 Application Deadline: April 1, 2027

$1,000 – Joan Scoralick Memorial Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted to an accredited institution and plans to major in the healthcare or food services field.

Joan volunteered thousands of hours to the Beekman Fire Company and the community in her pursuit to make her town a great place to live, work, and play. This scholarship proudly honors her dedication and service to our community.

$1,000 – Alfred Wohrman Memorial Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted to an accredited institution and intends to major in Fire Sciences, Emergency Services, Paramedic Studies, or Nursing, or who plans to attend a police or fire academy.

Alfred Andrew Wohrman dedicated decades of his life to protecting and serving his community. He began his firefighting career in 1964 with the Beekman Fire Department and went on to serve on the Board of Directors of the Fire Company and as a Fire Commissioner.

Revered as an integral part of the company and known as “the heart” of the department, Al made the ultimate sacrifice on April 17, 2005, while responding to a vehicle fire. This scholarship proudly continues his legacy of courage, dedication, and service.

It is with profound sadness that the Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary shares the passing of our Life Member, Ruth C. Hogan.

Ruth was much more than a longtime member of our Auxiliary—she was a cherished friend, a dedicated volunteer, and a true pillar of the Town of Beekman. She founded the Beekman Rescue Squad, assisted in the delivery of babies, comforted those in distress, and devoted her life to serving others with kindness, compassion, and unwavering generosity. Her dedication touched countless lives and helped shape the caring community we know today.

As a Life Member of the Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary, Ruth exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and community service. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Ruth's family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

It is with deep sadness that the Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary mourns the passing of our longtime member and Life Member, Margaret “Marge” Ruiz.

Marge’s dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the Auxiliary and the Beekman community touched countless lives over the years. Her generosity of spirit, warm smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time. While Marge will be greatly missed, her legacy of service, friendship, and community involvement will continue to inspire us.

Rest in peace, Marge. Thank you for your years of devotion to the Beekman Fire Company Auxiliary and the community you so faithfully served.
