Town of Poughkeepsie Girls Softball

Today, Dutchess Overhead Doors Majors took on Red Hook/Rhinebeck in a fierce battle. Poughkeepsie held on to an 11-10 lead after 5 innings.

Poughkeepsie bats were on fire with some great hits from Aubrey, Ava and Shely. The girls all put up some awesome offense across the board with 9 hits.

Pitching was great today. Aubrey put up a solid 3 innings with 7 strikeouts outs. Following her solid performance was good performances from Skylar and Savannah to keep the lead and take the game.

Defensively there were some top notch plays. Gia and Maggie were solid behind the plate keeping the runners honest with quick throws and recovering passed balls. Shely and Addie made for a strong force in the infield making plays at first. The game ended with the two turning a double play after Shely caught a popup and flipped it to Addie to beat the runner back.

The coaches are very proud of these girls. It’s been a season of offense and we were so happy to see it all come together for a great team performance.

**Special shoutout to the helpers who were out on the field last night after the rain to help get the field ready. We were told there was work being done at 1am! Thank you for anyone willing to put in that kind of work to help these girls get their games in.
