Today is World Bicycle Day, a perfect time to remind everyone that there is still plenty of time to sign up for the Yo-Pough-Yo Bike Ride on June 13 to raise money for the National EMS Memorial Service. You can start at either the Poughkeepsie station or the Yonkers station and meet up with other riders for lunch in Brewster.

This is what is known as a Diffusion of Innovation adoption curve. The DOI demonstrates how new ideas or innovations are adopted over time, from the innovators and early adopters to the late adopters and laggards. In a pivotal 2020 study by Grunau et al. of on-scene resuscitation VS intra-arrest transport with a cohort of over 43,000 patients where on-scene survival was double that of intra-arrest transport, the incidence of on-scene resuscitations was 75%. It is almost certainly higher now. This puts the hold-outs in laggard territory.

MESSAGE FROM NORTHERN DUTCHESS HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM:

"Starting at 07:00 on Wednesday, June 3rd, North Dutchess Hospital's Ambulance Bay will be closed for 5-6 weeks. During this time, ambulances will need to use the Old Ambulance Bay/Ambulette Entrance near the rear of the campus in Parking Lot K. Signage will be in place."

🚨 BIG NEWS: The U.S. EMS Compact just grew to 28 states.

Connecticut, Arizona, and Alaska have each enacted the Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact (REPLICA), joining the 25 states already participating in the nation's EMS workforce mobility network.

✅ Connecticut (26th) — signed by Governor Lamont, with a forward-thinking regional activation strategy designed to bring New England into the Compact network.
✅ Arizona (27th) — signed by Governor Hobbs on May 22; actively completing implementation and next in line to go fully operational.
✅ Alaska (28th) — passed the legislature with a 39-0 House concurrence vote; effective January 1, 2027.

With 28 states and more than 450,000 EMS clinicians, the Compact continues to grow. The EMS Compact reduces licensing barriers, strengthens disaster response, and supports military families across the country.
