Backpacks, Supplies & More "Backpacks, Supplies & More" gives free backpacks/school supplies to children. [email protected]

Christmas in August was started in August of 2007 at First Presbyterian Church. It was founded on the concept that financial hardships should not come between a child and his or her education. At it's inception, approximately 500 students were served. Over the years, the event has grown, and more than 1,500 students receive free back to school supplies, plus food, and entertainment. This is all made possible through the generosity of several houses of worship, businesses, and individual donors, and with the help of many volunteers. Approximately four years ago, First Presbyterian Church joined it's sister church in Lagrange. To keep the event centrally located, Christ Episcopal Church heeded the call to host the annual event at its site, 20 Carroll Street in Poughkeepsie. If you are interested in helping our, or in finding out more information, send an email to [email protected] or call the church office weekdays at 845-452-0684.
