Join us for the “Senior Project” opening reception THIS FRIDAY at the Trolley Barn Gallery!

This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the future of fine art by exhibiting new bodies of work from The Art Effect’s most intensive Art Institute program, Senior Project. High school juniors, seniors, and gap year teens completed a 12-week capstone program modeled after a senior thesis college course.

Senior Project student, Hudson Segnit says, “Senior Project has been a really great growth experience for me. I have created meaningful pieces about my relationships with some of the people I am closest to, and I feel like my skills have improved immensely. Senior Project has allowed me to see what an artist's profession really consists of. The feedback I have received has helped me to create art I am truly proud of, and I am very grateful to have had this experience.”

This group of young artists have created strong portfolios around a personal theme in their chosen art medium. Each student thoughtfully explored their imagination and personal history to create a sophisticated body of work that showcases their unique perspectives. “Senior Project” is a celebration of the accomplishments of these young artists.

If you’d like to hear from the artists on their experience, inspiration, and process, come by the Trolley Barn Gallery THIS FRIDAY from 6–8pm!

Exhibiting artist, Marielena Ferrer, will lead a Butterfly Tearing workshop that continues her practice of community engaged art making this Friday, November 1!

Ferrer will explore the themes behind her powerful installation “Broken Monarchs”, which invites viewers to step into the fragile and resilient reality of the more than five thousand migrant children and infants separated from their parents.

“As an immigrant myself, I believe in cultivating forms of everyday activism to contest social exclusion, so my art practice seeks to seize opportunities to educate others about migration,” Ferrer says.

Don’t miss this moving workshop that delves into the intersection of arts and social justice! Join the Trolley Barn Gallery this Friday, November 1st, from 4-7pm for this inspiring artist workshop with Marielena Ferrer.

The Trolley Barn Gallery is thrilled to showcase Kimmah Dennis' new work "Echoes of Presence", created during her current residency with the American Academy in Rome. This exclusive work is currently on view for “The Duo Show” through November 8th.

Born amid the chaos of the first Liberian war, Kimmah’s work reflects deeply personal narratives of government abuses, forced child recruitment, and her harrowing escape. Through a fusion of inherited memories and her encounters with mobility, displacement, and assimilation, she explores diverse visual languages—painting, drawing, collage, and installation.

Kimmah's artistic vision breaks free from the confines of a single medium, merging traditional and contemporary forms into a cohesive expression of resilience and storytelling. We feel lucky to have her work displayed right here in the heart of the Hudson Valley.

Gallery hours are Thursdays & Fridays 2–5pm and Saturdays from 12–4pm. We look forward to seeing you there soon!
