(The Alliance) was incorporated to focus on developing strategies and facilitating action to stimulate transformative growth to enhance the quality of life in the city of Poughkeepsie. The mission of Poughkeepsie Alliance, Inc. is to enhance the quality of life in, and promote the economic revitalization of the City of Poughkeepsie by partnering with all stakeholders including citizens, and privat

e, public and non-profit organizations. The Alliance will partner with stakeholders and maximize resources from the public, private and not for profit sectors to realize change. This plan outlines The Alliance’s four programmatic areas of focus:

1. Together We're Better: Convening Leaders for Change
Convene leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors, providing leadership and coordination to
support the revitalization of the City of Poughkeepsie

Lead Transformative Projects

3. Building Capacity and Community
Increase resources to add capacity in City Government and the Not for Profit Sector

This spring, the City of Poughkeepsie is taking a proactive, people-first approach to ensuring local parks are safe, welcoming and vibrant spaces for children, youth and families through the launch of the Poughkeepsie Park Stewardship Program.

The program places trained, full-time seasonal Park Stewards in three city parks — Malcolm X Park, Pershing Avenue Park, and Earline Patrice Park (Mansion Square) — to provide a consistent, positive presence focused on safety, care and connection.

The stewardship initiative builds on nearly seven years of community-led collaboration through the PARKnership, a group of local residents and organizations convened by the Poughkeepsie Alliance to reclaim parks for youth and families through stewardship and programming. The Poughkeepsie Alliance is participating in the PARKnership, a group of local residents and organizations committed to reclaiming parks for youth and families through stewardship and programming. The initiative is administered by a collaboration between the Poughkeepsie Alliance, Hudson River Housing, and Scenic Hudson.

After weeks of delays due to inclement weather, the new City of Poughkeepsie welcome sign at the intersection of Academy Street and South Avenue has been installed.
