While our Thanksgiving festivities may have been altered this year, there is still so much to be grateful for, including the opportunity to extend assistance to those who need it most. Access to food and nutrition is a major challenge in the community where our PBI School primary students live. This shortage has been compounded by the impact of the pandemic. It is our hope to partner with a foundation or corporation that will fund the launch of a fully developed food program for PBI School. While we strive to reach this goal, even the smallest contribution towards food assistance helps to fill this gap. For only $20USD, all 133 students receive a serving of porridge or oatmeal on a given school day. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please mail contributions to:

As a part of our capacity building efforts launched in 2018, OAK Now has been sponsoring the tuition of 3 teachers to attend Seke Teachers College. We are proud of them for navigating the simultaneous responsibilities of being student and teacher. They are now in their 3rd and final year of college, anticipating graduation in August 2021.

In 2018, we established immediate priorities for PBI School. While we want to serve as many children as possible, we needed to ensure that the quality of the students’ education and school experience is the highest it can be. With that in-mind, we got to work on a number of capacity-building projects, one being the ongoing renovation of the school building. In 2018, we installed a complete bathroom facility, which includes 12 toilet stalls (6 for boys, 6 for girls), a urinal system, 3 shower stalls, and all necessary outer and underground piping and plumbing. For many of our students, this marks the first time they’ve seen and experienced the use of running water.

As the Governor and owner of PBI School, it is the responsibility of OAK Now to ensure that necessary resources are in-place for operation sustainability; and to ensure school compliance with government standards. However, we want to acknowledge the leadership on the ground, who ensures school operation and curricular instruction daily. Apostle Beloved Benson, Senior Pastor of Seed of Faith Church in Harare Zimbabwe, Africa, is also the Principal of Patrick Benson International School. As the originator of the local education initiative, PBI School was named after Apostle Beloved's late husband, in honor of his lifelong dedication to serving the poor. We have maintained the original name of the education initiative, which fully aligns with the mission of OAK Now, to serve the needs of vulnerable populations. And so we solute Apostle Beloved Benson, for her partnership in service, and for continuing to uphold the Patrick Benson legacy in such a meaningful way.
