On behalf of the Schuylkill Chamber Foundation, we were proud to present this year’s IGNITE Schuylkill Youth Program’s overall winner, Leonita Sylaj, with her $7,500 scholarship check. Leonita graduated from Blue Mountain High School in the spring.

We wish her nothing but success as she embarks on her college journey!

🏹We ended the program with a field trip to Scouting America Hawk Mountain Council where the students learned about nature, wilderness survival, team work. They even got to try archery and zip lining!

🌟 Our pilot Youth Leadership program is underway!

The Schuylkill Chamber Foundation’s Youth Leadership Program, in partnership with the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, is piloting an engaging and educational summer opportunity that focuses on career pathways for middle school students.

This program will serve students in grades 5–8 from:
North Schuylkill Elementary (North Schuylkill School District)
Saint Clair Elementary (Saint Clair School Connections)
Schuylkill Haven Elementary (Schuylkill Haven Area School District)

The program is coupled with the summer ACHIEVE program, creating a well-rounded and impactful experience.

💪Yesterday, the Leadership Class of 2026 completed their class project. The projected benefited Hillside SPCA!

The class revamped the walking path. That means no more muddy messes during rainy days for their staff, volunteers and pups!

ORWIGSBURG — Seven high school entrepreneurs were recognized for their efforts to launch original businesses at the annual IGNITE Schuylkill Youth Program on Wednesday.

The 16-week program, hosted by the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, culminated in a presentation at the Orwigsburg Veterans Community Memorial Hall that drew about 80 people. Students pitched six ambitious projects spanning a variety of community needs — including pastries, reptile care, gene-editing technology and film — and were awarded startup money from the Schuylkill Chamber Foundation, which they will use for their postsecondary education and entrepreneurial plans.
