Buckle up, Pennsylvania! 🚙💨 Understanding PA’s seat belt laws keeps you safe and helps you avoid an expensive ticket. Here is a quick breakdown of what you need to know:
Adults (18+): The driver and all front-seat passengers must wear a seat belt.
Teens & Kids (8–17): Must be buckled up no matter where they sit in the vehicle (front or back seat). This is a primary offense, meaning police can pull a vehicle over just for this!
Under Age 8: Children must be properly secured in an approved car seat or booster seat based on their age and size.
No matter how short the drive, making sure everyone is buckled up is the easiest way to protect the people you love. Let's look out for each other and keep PA roads safe! ❤️

Traveling through the Lehigh Valley is beautiful, but the change of seasons or recent storms can leave roads covered in hidden hazards like loose gravel, grass clippings, or damp leaves. For a motorcyclist, hitting these unexpected slick spots can feel exactly like riding on ice.

Scan Far Ahead: Look well past your front tire. Spotting a patch of gravel or a pile of wet leaves early gives you time to react calmly.
Reduce Lean Angle: If you have to ride through a patch of debris, try to keep the bike as upright and vertical as possible. Avoid sharp turning maneuvers until your tires are back on clean asphalt.
Smooth Controls: No sudden braking or aggressive throttling. Any sudden change in speed or direction while on loose debris can break your traction instantly.
Maintain Steady Speed: Ease off the throttle slightly before you reach the hazard, and coast through with a steady hand.

Had a wonderful time this past weekend representing the Highway Safety Network at the 22nd Annual Justin Sheftel Memorial Softball Tournament! 🥎 It was incredible to see the Lehigh Valley community come together not just for some great softball, but to support local youth programs and scholarships.
At the Highway Safety Network, our mission is to keep our communities safe on and off the road—and events like this, filled with camaraderie, heart, and teamwork, show exactly what makes our community so strong. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, grabbed some safety tips, and made the day so special! ❤️

We were in Muhlenberg Township today with these great motorcycle police officers. We were promoting motorcycle safety and how to reduce fatalities and serious injuries across Berks County along with the rest of the District 5 area. Thank you to the Muhlenberg Township PD and your officers for sharing their knowledge!

Last year, there were nearly 3,000 motorcycle crashes in Pennsylvania, with 186 of those being fatal.

☀️ Summer is here, and our streets are busy! Whether you’re on foot or behind the wheel, let’s keep our community safe with these quick tips:
🚶‍♂️ For Walkers:
Heads up: Put the phone away, especially when crossing the street.
Be seen: Wear light or reflective clothing if you're out after dark.
Use crosswalks: Stick to sidewalks, or walk facing traffic if there aren't any.
🚗 For Drivers:
Slow down: School is out, and kids are playing in neighborhoods.
Scan intersections: Double-check for pedestrians before turning.
Stay alert: Keep your eyes on the road and off your phone.
Let's look out for each other this season! 🕶️🍦

The road ahead changes with age, but simple habits keep us driving confidently!

Staying safe and stress-free behind the wheel is as easy as scheduling regular eye exams, avoiding rush hour, and sticking to familiar routes. Taking care of the little things provides a smooth, stress-free ride.
