How many decisions did you make today?

How you spent your day, what you ate, watched, who you spent it with. Those are all choices we make daily without thinking twice about it.

For Timmy, choosing to spend his afternoon fishing wasn't a small thing, it was his to decide. Fishing is one of his favorite things to do.

At Avenues, our mission is committed to providing quality services that enhance the lives of individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities. Supporting decisions helps provide independence, and independence starts with something as simple as being asked, "What do you want to do today?"

Our Home & Community team supports decisions, then builds the day around it.

This is what person-centered support looks like.

Eldergarden 🎳 bowling was one favorite activity chosen

Eldercare in Lebanon had a musical performance by Instruments of Inspiration today. Leslie, Chris, and Maggie assisted by playing the Stumpf fiddle.

And Kayla took her pup Bandit to the Schuylkill Haven Pet Parade!

Meet Wesley,

Wesley is part of the Nanny’s Kitchen team, and he is always ready to help.

A foodie lover of Taco Salad, but don't even try to offer him sushi!

He really enjoys is being at Avenues with his friends and knowing that the work he does helps provide lunch for other people. He is always ready and willing to help out where it's needed, and he feels proud of what he accomplishes each day.

We are proud to have you on the Nanny’s Kitchen team, Wesley.

A little shopping trip, a lot of fun! 🛍️❤️

Eldergarden recently headed to Goodwill for a day out in the community. Trips like this may seem simple, but they’re so much more than just shopping.

It’s a chance to make choices, socialize, practice independence, enjoy a change of scenery, and simply have fun together. Everyone has their own interests, and giving individuals the opportunity to choose what they want to look at, buy, or do is an important part of creating meaningful days.

Sometimes the best moments happen during the simplest outings. And from the smiles we saw, this was definitely a good day!

Today’s lunch at Nanny’s Kitchen looked pretty delicious. 🤤

Pulled pork with pasta salad, grapes and apple cobbler… and a fresh salad option with sides for those looking for something a little lighter.

But there’s more happening in this kitchen than just making a good lunch.

Nanny’s Kitchen provides the opportunity to learn real, hands-on skills, from food preparation and serving to working as a team, following a menu and building confidence in a kitchen environment.

And our workshop team gets to enjoy those meals, too! ❤️

When you stop in for lunch, you’re not just getting something good to eat. You’re supporting a program that creates opportunities for people to learn, work and be part of their community.

That’s something worth having for lunch.
