WELCOME TO THE NEW SOUP KITCHEN PAGE!
Yes. We're closed down and we all know who to blame for that, but why not still have a page to keep you all informed of what's going on and to reminisce on what was and what has been taken away from our community and those in need?

I hope you all still stay tuned to this page and share it.
THANK YOU!

AND THIS IS WHY I’M THANKFUL THAT I GET TO SHARE THINGS WITH YOU ON THIS PAGE:
A little long, but worth the read.

As I was making dinner for our patrons today I got a call from my Dad’s boss, Regina.
He drives a bus for Avenues.
I thought she was calling to tell me she had some food to donate, but No.
She was calling to tell me that my Dad was being taken by ambulance to the hospital.
He was showing signs of having a stroke.

I had pots boiling on the stove and food in the oven and my Mom was on her way to help with dinner.

My heart was racing, but my head was in the game.
I called my Mom and told her what was going on and I left Soupy to go to meet her at the hospital.

On my way there I called my boss at Catholic Charities, Andrea, to let her know that I had to leave Soupy and I wouldn’t be able to make our mandatory meeting in Allentown tomorrow morning. She was understanding and sent her prayers.

I also called Jeff Dunkel and then Cheryl at Hydro.
I put a plea out to them to please go to Soupy and take over for me to continue with dinner.
The conversations were short but what took place afterwards is quite remarkable.

After my Dad was settled at the hospital and my family was there, I left to check on the Soup Kitchen.
And this is where the grateful tears come in.

Imagine walking in and seeing a beehive of people cooking, packaging and serving dinner to our patrons.
It was perfect.
And they were sincerely concerned for me and my family.

Apparently, the forces I called on called in their forces. And they showed up and did a fantastic job.

I don’t know how to Thank them enough.

Maybe this post will let them know how much I appreciate their commitment to our mission and their dedication to our Soup Kitchen and patrons - and to me.
I love you all. And I’m so grateful for you.

My Dad is stable and in ICU. Knowing him and his feisty character, he’ll overcome this speed bump.
Bonus: If I need these folks while my family is dealing with my Dad, they let me know that they’ll make themselves available.
God knows just how wonderful they are and how blessed I am to have their support for me and our Soup Kitchen.
And now you know too. ❤️
