1 in 3 students are chronically absent from school (aka miss at least 10% of the school year). That’s double the number of chronically absent students since 2018.* One reason? A lack of access to clean clothes.

👉 An estimated 6.5 million students across the US became chronically absent during the 2021-2022 school year.

👉 1 in 5 students don’t have access to clean clothes, making them more likely to miss school.†

👉 A student who is chronically absent any year between grades 8 and 12 is 7x more likely to drop out.‡

👉 Chronic absenteeism has been linked to diminished health, involvement with the criminal justice system, and poverty.
