May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Here are a few safety tips for riders:

* Find a bike that's right for you. Your feet should reach the ground when you're in the saddle and the controls should be easy to operate.

* Be seen. Wear proper clothing, use your headlight and ride in the best lane position.

* Maintain a safe following distance; reduce your speed when roads are wet or icy.

* Be alert for curves & potholes/road hazards.

* Don't speed. Speed increases your chance of losing control. And the smaller the vehicle the harder it is for other motorists to judge speed.

* Never ride while impaired. Riders who wear them are more likely to survive head injuries in a crash than those who don't.

* Wear a helmet
