The Katybug Shuffle was started in 2011 to help a local Pottsboro cancer warrior - Katy Whaley. Katy, now 8, is a vibrant young girl who has battled leukemia. She was diagnosed in August 2010 with high Risk Pre-curser B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. During Katy's battle, she had monthly visits to her oncologist in Dallas and was hospitalized several times due to fevers and neutropenia (low blood c
ounts). Frequent visits to the emergency room and greater risks prone to infection were always a scare for the family. Though Katy received her last chemo treatment in December 2012, she will continue visits with her oncologist for the months and years to come. The family's medical bills have continued to mount due to the ongoing care that Katy still needs. Katy's family has lived first hand what many people live through and shouldn't. Therefore, the developing Katybugs & Butterflies Foundation is being established to help assist other families who are affected by the terrible monster - childhood cancer. We ask that you help spread awareness to those around you. Childhood cancer takes a toll on the entire family and the Katybugs & Butterflies Foundation wants to help! The Katybug Shuffle will benefit the foundation in hopes to raise sufficient funds to reach out to the multiple families that are affected by childhood cancer. Thank you all for you continued support and prayers!!
