A beautiful morning for live-burn training at our new facility — a valuable, controlled experience for our newest members and a helpful refresher for our more experienced firefighters. The session began with donning full protective gear and double-checking one another’s equipment to guarantee safety. Members practiced correctly connecting hoses and establishing water supply lines. We ran coordinated crew drills on entry procedures, worked on fire behavior assessment, discussed interior attack strategies, ventilation timing, and hose advancement techniques. We also continued training on our new engine, practicing pump operations and deploying hose lays.

PVFD firefighters had the opportunity to get more hands-on time with the new fire engine last night during training. Members ran water through the truck, loaded SCBA equipment onto it, and learned more about its features— including the wireless headset system. We’re excited to continue training and getting familiar with this great addition to our department!!
