Join us as we celebrate Clarkson's SPEED Team before they hit the competition course! ๐Ÿš™ The team will be competing on June 11-13 in Palmyra, and we're kicking things off with a special send-off in the Rochester area. This is a great chance to meet the students and coaches, get an up-close look at the Baja car, and connect with fellow alumni as well.

Bob Davis from the W.H. Coulter School of Engineering will be in attendance along with SPEED Team students and their coaches, as they prepare for competition the following day. Learn more about the Baja SAE Team here: https://www.clarkson.edu/student-life/clubs-activities/speed-teams/baja-sae

We're especially grateful to Clarkson alumnus Bob Jacobson '82, President & CEO of Lite Coms, LLC and proud supporter of the Baja program, for hosting us. He's opening up his space for a casual parking lot tailgate and mixer, so come ready to show your Clarkson spirit! ๐Ÿ‘Š

Dave Glenn โ€™82, a member of Clarkson Legion, Loyal, and Leadership, recently learned the Universityโ€™s aging ice resurfacer required frequent and costly repairs. A lifelong hockey fan and former intramural player at Clarkson, Glenn immediately stepped forward to fund a new machine.

โ€œOver the last several years, I have continually looked for opportunities to help make Clarkson better,โ€ Glenn says. โ€œWhen I learned that the schoolโ€™s current resurfacer was broken, out for repairs, and near the end of its life, I felt this was the perfect opportunity for me to give back.โ€

Glennโ€™s generosity quickly inspired others across campus. Mechanical and Aerospace sophomore Daniel Galko designed and 3D printed miniature keepsake replicas of the resurfacer for Glenn and his family, complete with detailed features and Glennโ€™s name on the front. Galko presented the replicas during Glennโ€™s recent campus visit and hockey game at Cheel Arena.

Glennโ€™s generosity will enhance our campus for years to come and continue to inspire students like Daniel Galko. His gift reflects the spirit of the Good Knights Guild and exemplifies the lasting impact of philanthropy and engagement within the Clarkson community.

Deborah Lehman Raught '78 shares:

"My roommates and I have remained close over the years and have tried to take a roommates trip every year or so since graduation. Starting with the pandemic in 2020 when we couldn't travel, we started a cocktail time Zoom call every Monday and Friday for whoever is available to stay connected in everyday life.

Participants on the calls are the 4 of us roommates (Kathleen (Kate) Haugstad Jones, Karen Jackson Asetta, Mary Noon and myself), a couple spouses, and Bill Yeaton & Joan McGoldrick Yeaton (Class of 1978 classmates who later married). Bill and Joan are also part of our travel gang on many domestic and international trips.

The photos below span several years. We try to take a roommate photo on each trip and stand in the same order as in our 1978 graduation day photo which is the first one below."

Earlier this month, the group ventured to Wisconsin to celebrate their 70th birthdays, enjoying beer, sightseeing, friendship and life together. Such amazing lifelong connections! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

Courtney Albiker '13 says "Clarkson holds such a special place in my heart; not just for the education I received, but for the people it brought into my life."

She sent us a few photos that tell a little piece of that story:

๐ŸŽ€ Then: A photo of Courtney with her Delta Zeta sister Alicia (Cabrera) Geraghty '15, captured on a DZ day out โ€” getting ready with their little and big. "Those moments of sisterhood are ones I still carry with me."

๐ŸŽ€ Then: A photo of Courtney with another DZ sister, Kassandra (Lee) Jennes '13, at Relay for Life in the IRC. "This is one of those memories that reminds me how much heart the Clarkson community has always had."

๐ŸŽ€ Now: The three of them together in Nashville in June 2024. "A girls' trip that reminded me, once again, why I'm so grateful Clarkson brought us together. We may be scattered up and down the East Coast these days, but the friendship has never wavered."

Courtney said "Alicia, Kass, and I were sisters in Delta Zeta, but what started in Potsdam has grown into something so much bigger than that. Clarkson didn't just give me two degrees, it gave me lifelong people."

The Capital District Chapter had an incredible day last Saturday packed with service, fun, and alumni connections! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

The morning kicked off at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, where alumni rolled up their sleeves for a park cleanup as part of I Love My Park Day and our Clarkson Serves initiative. It was a great way to give back to the community while spending time together outdoors.

Then in the evening, the fun continued as alumni gathered at Proctors for a performance of & Juliet. We hear that the show absolutely lived up to the hype with rave reviews all around!

From community service to a night at the theater, it was a fantastic weekend for the Capital District Chapter. More great events to come! ๐ŸŽ‰
