It's time to start knitting for our annual Little Hats, Big Hearts project!

Last year our alumni and actives knit 118 hats for the Canton-Potsdam Hospital - can we beat that this year? From alumni coordinator Cindy Dylis Wilson:

"Michael’s is having a yarn sale. I highly recommend the Caron Simply Soft in Harvest Red. If you get tired of knitting or crocheting in red, the Canton/Potsdam Birthplace can also use newborn hats in pinks and blues. Completed hats can be sent to the house (51 Elm) for Yalisha Colon, who is leading the project from the actives side. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions."

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Marianne Osterhoudt Crist, Spring 1968.

Marianne Crist, 69, of Port Ewen, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.

Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Frances & Violet Fishang Osterhoudt. Marianne was a school teacher and taught at various schools in the Saugerties School System. After retiring, she volunteered in the Emergency department at Kingston Hospital. Marianne enjoyed traveling the United States and several countries in Europe, but her favorite escape was Ogunquit, Maine. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. Most of all she adored her grandchildren. They were her world.

Marianne is survived by her husband of 43 years, James A. Crist of Port Ewen, whom she married on May 11, 1974, two children, Nicholas J. Crist and his wife Barbara of Kingston, Bethanne Varner and her husband James of Wake Forest, NC, three grandchildren, Rhylan Crist, Braeden Crist and Macklin Varner. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Marianne was predeceased by a brother, John Osterhoudt and a nephew, Sean Osterhoudt.

Marianne will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4-7 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Marginal Way Preservation Fund, PO Box 1455, Ogunquit, ME or Duke Ovarian Cancer Fund, 7413 Six Forks Rd. #365, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Two officers of the Omega Alumni Association made the trip to Potsdam this week (one from PA with a preschooler!) to celebrate with the actives who received awards for their Spring 2017 GPA during the Greek Scholarship Reception. A total of eight Omega sisters were recognized. Great job, ladies, and thanks for making the trip Maggs & Meredith!
