Next Era & Alliant energy have added a 100 MW battery storage facility to the Grant County Solar Utility District There is meeting scheduled:

April 19th from 4-7 @ the Holiday Gardens in Potosi.

Please do some reading about utility scale battery storage(BESS) and come with your knowledge & questions.

For years, our community was repeatedly reassured that the 200 MW Grant County Solar Project would NOT include an on-site Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Recently, surrounding land owners received the following notice.

Please join us in first, committing to doing some research to better understand the implications of this project addition. And then, exercising your right to public comment through the following means:

Anyone recall the public meeting where Next Era/Alliant said they would NOT be putting battery storage on site? We were assured it would not be a part of this project and not to worry about the dangers that utility scale battery storage bring to our families....

Utility scale solar is not responsible solar.

POTOSI, Wis. — A utility company recently announced plans to add 175 megawatts of battery storage in Wisconsin, with one of the facilities in Grant County.

Next Era/Alliant's Grant County Solar Project is based on 30 year leases with option to extend. According to Wisconsin Constitution Article 1 Section 14, agricultural land leases more than 15 years are prohibited.

We have submitted a motion to rescind the CPCN for Grant County Solar as it is based on leases that may be void per Wisconsin Constitution.
