Take advantage of helpful free workshops and one-on-one personal financial coaching with a trusted nonprofit designed to help you get where you want to be in Northern Virginia, whether you need to rent or are ready to buy. Last year, more than 135,000 visits to the virtual housing expo enabled folks to browse dozens of helpful exhibits in our exhibit hall, take free webinars or catch a video on a variety of important topics, and/or sign up for a 45-minute one-on-one financial coaching session with a trained and certified volunteer designed to leave you with knowledge and a plan. This 16th annual event is a cooperative effort of: Virginia Housing; the cities of Fairfax, Falls Church, Alexandria and Manassas Park; Fairfax, Arlington and Loudoun Counties; the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban DevelopmenÕs DC Field Office; and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. Expo manager is Laura Nickle of Communi-k, Inc. Fiscal agent is First Home Alliance, a Woodbridge-based nonprofit.

The Virginia Housing Alliance (VHA) and Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) are hosting a regional forum in Reston on September 29 as part of an effort to update the State of Supportive Housing in Virginia report.

The forum will share current data, gather community feedback, and explore strategies to address supportive housing needs through policy and practice.

Have a perspective to share? Housing providers, tenants, healthcare and behavioral health professionals, local governments, peer support specialists, social services professionals, and anyone interested in supportive housing are invited to participate.

We wanted to share a new opportunity for security deposit assistance of up to $1000 being offered in Loudoun County only through CFH, a trusted housing nonprofit. The money is paid directly to the landlord.

We are thrilled to announce expanded Security Deposit Assistance for Loudoun County residents—helping more families access safe, stable housing.

This program is available to 15 income-qualified households who are moving into a new rental home. Assistance of up to $1,000 for a security deposit is paid directly to the landlord.

Key eligibility requirements include:
Household income at or below 50% AMI
Income at least 2x monthly rent
Moving into a rental unit you do not currently occupy
Voucher holders are welcome, and any previous participants must have repaid their prior assistance.

This program is designed to support long-term stability, with funds repaid over time to help sustain future assistance for others. Funding is made possible through the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties.
