Mewow!

It was peaceful and warm on a slow afternoon,
The breeze hummed softly, a sweet, lazy tune.
When a call crackled loud through the radio air:
A kitten’s trapped tight in a hood—send care!

No flames, no smoke, just a soft little squeak,
From a tabby who’d chosen a hide-and-seek streak.
No firefighters came—must’ve missed the alert,
Or were busy ironing their fireproof shirt.

But fear not! Who showed up with style and dash?
Officers Koepke and Garcia, ready in a flash.
With shades on their brows and hearts full of grit,
They rolled to the scene—no sirens, just wit.

Garcia crouched low with a flashlight and frown,
“Yup, we’ve got a whiskered suspect locked down.”
Koepke nodded, “Alright, this ain’t in the book,
But I’ve wrestled raccoons—I know how to look.”

Under the hood was a pair of green eyes,
A glare that said, “Touch me and someone dies.”
But tuna was cracked, and a string toy deployed,
Tactics no crook has ever enjoyed.

The kitten gave sass, but they stood their ground,
And soon it was scooped up, safe and sound.
No cuffs, no chase—just purring and fur,
And Garcia said, “Add cat whisperer to our repertoire, sir.”

So raise a toast to those officers true,
Who saved a bold kitten without much ado.
While firefighters snoozed or grilled in the sun,
Koepke and Garcia got the meow-job done!

We are so thankful to all who contribute assist us in our events, so we can pass on the blessing to other!

We can't say a big enough Thank You to the Poteet Police Association in all that you have done and continue to do for us and the community! This letter is just a small token to show our appreciation to you and what you mean to us. You definitely have a large impact on our agency, and help us to excel and advance with technology and other important and much needed items.

We were honored to do this on behalf of Lt. Frank Leal and his family. It's a blessing to be the blessing that others need.

Our South Region was blessed with a donation from this year's "Frank Leal Day" in honor of former Poteet Chief of Police, Lieutenant Frank Leal.👮🩵

Mr. Leal's commitment to helping the children and families in his community inspired this day of remembrance. This is now the second year we have been chosen as the beneficiary of this fundraiser.🙌

Thank you, Poteet Police Association and The Backyard Kitchen for carrying on Mr. Leal's legacy through this beautiful tradition.✨
