On Monday, May 25, 2026, Memorial Day, members of the Poteet Rotary Club attended the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Memory Garden in Jourdanton, Texas. The event was hosted by the Atascosa County American Legion Post 436 to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms.
American Legion Commander and Rotarian Willie Leal delivered a heartfelt speech, followed by a prayer from Pastor Robert C**n. Veterans Ed Kisser and Rotarian Stewart Knowlton proudly raised and lowered the U.S. flag during the ceremony. Wreaths were placed by VFW Veteran Patti Hewitt, Mayor Doc Williams, and Commander (Rotarian) Willie Leal. David Martinez Atascosa Co EMS solemnly played “Taps” on his bugle in remembrance of our fallen heroes.
Those in attendance from the Poteet Rotary Club included Colleen, Mariam, Stewart, Diana, Willie, and Caroline. Representing TCRW were Diana, Sharon, James, Willie, Colleen, and Patti.
The ceremony was a meaningful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, reminding us all of the true meaning of Memorial Day.
