πŸ“Š Domestic Violence & Disabilities: The Numbers Matter

Individuals with disabilities are at a significantly higher risk of experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse.

πŸ’œ Nearly 1 in 2 women with disabilities will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
πŸ’œ People with disabilities are abused at rates nearly 3 times higher than those without disabilities.
πŸ’œ Many survivors face additional barriers to seeking help, including transportation, communication challenges, fear of losing caregivers, or lack of accessible services.

Abuse is never acceptable, and everyone deserves safety, dignity, and support.

At Leflore County Crisis Services, we are committed to providing compassionate, accessible services for all survivors in our community.

πŸ“ž If you or someone you know needs help, reach out. You are not alone.

πŸ’œ Understanding Trauma Bonding πŸ’œ

One of the most misunderstood aspects of abusive relationships is trauma bonding,a powerful emotional attachment created through cycles of harm, manipulation, fear, and intermittent kindness.

Trauma bonding can make it incredibly difficult for survivors to leave abusive situations. It is not a sign of weakness. It is a trauma response shaped by survival, control, and emotional conditioning.

By increasing awareness and understanding, we can better support survivors with compassion instead of judgment.

Healing begins with:
βœ”οΈ Recognizing unhealthy patterns
βœ”οΈ Building safe support systems
βœ”οΈ Accessing trauma-informed services
βœ”οΈ Reconnecting with personal strength and identity

If you or someone you know may be experiencing abuse, support is available. You are not alone. For support reach out to (918)647-9800
