This is a quick update for March 7th! (I will leave the March 3rd update below in case you missed it.)

We have read the draft brief for filing March 14th with the Idaho Supreme Court! Peter’s arguments clearly outline the case for our standing, so we pray that we find favor with the court!

A huge thanks to three repeat donors who responded to the March 3rd email!! So, in addition to the remaining $75 from the person who is matching, we now only need to raise $3,744.00!!

Every grassroots donation makes a difference! We currently have 83 donors… we respectfully request that those of you who support this cause but have not yet donated, to please consider donating. Here’s how you can help:

Today is March 3rd Concerned Citizens!

We are SO CLOSE! So close to our financial goal AND so close to our opening brief being filed with the Idaho Supreme Court on March 13, 2026.

Remember it takes lots of regular people in a grassroots effort! We are David v. Goliath …

· In the last month we added 8 new donors (we have many repeat donors)

· Two of those were not on our 300+ address email list! So, our message continues to go out!!

· We were able to receive $1,925 of the $2,000 matching offer because of your donations! Thank you!

Concerned Citizens has done hard things to date, but unfortunately, we will not be able to present our case to the Idaho Supreme Court if we do not raise the entire $45,000.00… There is no one “waiting in the wings” to cover our deficit, so let’s not be disappointed!

Balance to raise: $4,219.00!!! This is possible… I will update in a couple days…

A message from Peter (our attorney):

The Concerned Citizens’ opening brief is due March 13, 2026.

Based on the work required to complete the appeal through briefing and argument, I expect total fees and costs going forward to be approximately $25,000.

Before we invest further time, I need a clear commitment that Concerned Citizens will fund the appeal.

Can we tell Peter “Yes we have it all”? It is exciting that we are so close! We have $7,669.00 more to raise… $37,331.00 raised so far for This Step.

GOOD NEWS! We have a donor that believes in our case and he will match 50% up to $2,000! So don’t delay… We don’t want to lose this opportunity… PLEASE JOIN US! Regular tax-paying citizens should have a voice when it comes to decisions that directly impact our safety, our environment, and our beautiful river - - now and for our childrens’ future.

Happy Friday Concerned Citizens!

We are grateful that our flyer campaign has connected us with a woman who is willing to volunteer and help our grassroots efforts for our Spokane River! She told me her story of family members not being able to swim safely, as well as the yearly damage to their dock, their boat and the shorelines! Happy New Year, Concerned Citizens!

I was able to take 5 days off to join our son and his family on a little vacation, and now it’s back to river work!

I’m sure you’re all wondering how much we’ve raised!? I was so happy to return and find three checks in my mailbox! So… $30,281.00 is what we have towards our goal of $45,000.00!! We are so close to reaching our goal: to pay our attorney and get to the Idaho Supreme Court for a ruling on our Standing! This is OUR river, so we truly hope that those who have not yet donated, would please join the others who have made one, two, three and four donations!

Our total includes the pledge from the donor who was going to make up the balance! They were confident that we would achieve our goal, so they already sent their check! Thank you!

What we know about the Supreme Court Plan (if we make our goal):

§ Peter will file the Record with the Court on January 21st.

§ Our case will be heard in the Spring session, in Boise, Moscow or Coeur d’Alene.

Attention! Yesterday, a supporter sent me an interesting article in the Coeur d’Alene Press! It was encouraging to read that groups have filed a lawsuit against the Idaho Department of Lands, and are suing the IDL for their approval of permits that are harming the environment!

Many citizens submitted letters of opposition to the IDL against a commercial marina permit but it was approved anyway… that sounds a lot like our Templins/414 PF Hospitality case. Our position has been safety of our families, property damage resulting in environmental erosion and wildlife concerns, and the fact that public water has been given away for profit!

We agree that the IDEQ, the Army Corps Of Engineers, and other departments did not appropriately assess the impacts of developments on the Spokane River as well!! Here is the article:

Please help US STAND and go to the Idaho Supreme Court, so that we can prove that we the Concerned Citizens have the right/standing to oppose IDL’s management of the Spokane River, and bring our case forward! These issues are truly David v. Goliath situations… Don’t let Lake Pend Oreille citizens be the only ones who go on to fight Goliath (the IDL and big money)!
