Lots of great ideas about kids helping kids, and raising self esteem. Make sure your amazing athlete knows how amazing the artist is, and the artist how great the math whiz is.

When we break kids down to the simplest things, they often have a respect for each other. Remember kids don’t have to get along, or even like each other. I wish they would be more social, but as long as they don’t bother each other that is a start.

Also the person doing the bullying usually has something that created the behavior. Find the causes slow the progression. A 11 yo girl with a social media account can be just as vicious as a physical boy. Being a bully and being bullied does not discriminate. It has no boundaries.

Knowing what to say and how to say it can change a situation from bad to worse or bad to good. Knowledge is power. Support is key.

I don't use the term "victim" of bullying I use the term target. A victim is thought to be helpless. A target can be moved, changed, and eliminated. People can be survivors of bullying, see enough of them and you will understand how true those words can be.

This page isn't about one incident or event, it is hopefully able to answer some questions and provide insight. Scrolling to the bottom is the best way to catch up on what has been said.

Bullying numbers have skyrocketed over the years from 20% to nearly 50% and in some instances much higher. esepcially with cyber bullying and technology. Things can improve. It will never go away but we can improve.

A little bit about me and the page. I am often amused at people who don't want to hear what I have to say because I am a retired police officer, and a former SRO. Becauseof this I must carry the water for the police and schools and their minds are made up with what I will or will not say.

I could not be further away from those things. Those experiences opened my eyes to a lot of issues and time has shown me how to better address things. I don't bash or rah rah police or schools. This is about one issue we are facing. I tell the truth and give ideas and strive for open dialogue.

I simply want a better community than the one I was born into, and this is my way of trying to help that along a little bit. I certainly have and will make mistakes but won't quit the journey if anyone needs help.
