The Portsmouth Area Ladies recently awarded Recover Appalachia $500 for its "Together We Rise" event.

The forum brought together individuals with lived experience, service providers, workforce partners, and community members for an afternoon focused on connection, collaboration, and shared learning. The event highlighted the importance of strengthening support systems for those rebuilding their lives after incarceration or substance use disorder.

Attendees enjoyed free food and lively music while exploring a networking forum featuring resource tables from organizations that serve and support those that are supporting a healthy life style.

An interactive arts installation and storytelling booth, hosted by The Trillium Project and Elm Street Photography, created a meaningful space for participants to share their stories.

A panel discussion featuring individuals with lived experience alongside professionals in recovery and re-entry services offered insight into both the challenges and opportunities facing the region.

Local 501(c)(3) nonprofits are encouraged to apply for the next grant round, with a deadline of May 20. Applications can be found online at www.Portsmouthpals.org

Pals recently awarded $765 to Wings of Hope for the installation of a Little Free Library in Bannon Park near Farley Square. Sharon Davis, President joined Pals for the presentation. Our next grant deadline is May 20th.

A busy month 😎 Pals donated $500 to the Portsmouth Little Theater for costume cataloging and preservation. Karen Cobbs, PLT Board of Governors joined us for the presentation. An interesting project!

Pals gave $2,500 to Rarden Daily Bread to purchase food for preparation to serve. A great group feeding those in need. Pam Syroney is pictured with Pals members

Another donation 😎 PALS just donated $2,500 to Main Street Portsmouth to help purchase picnic tables and trash cans for the new Riverfront Development Project. Glad to have Suzette Rhea join us for the presentation.
