We are excited to kick off our 2026-27 Cool Kids Read campaign to promote literacy to local second-graders. We recently hosted our Key Club and Builders Club members to teach them how to read in a fun and engaging way. Thanks to the Shawnee State University Project BEAR program and the Scioto County Public Library for their support and partnership!

This year's book is "The Day the Crayons Quit" by Drew Daywalt, who grew up in Ohio, where his mother read stories to him every night after she got off work as a nurse at the local hospital. It is illustrated by Oliver Jeffers.

It's a new Kiwanis year, and our own Jay Hash, Lt. Governor of Ohio's Mighty Ninth (Ohio Kiwanis Division 9), recently helped to install our new officers and board members for the 2026-27 year!

We were honored to recently host Amber Hedge, Michael Parker, Madison Adams, Rhonda Magaw, and Alec Meeker at our Portsmouth Kiwanis Club meeting!

​They shared the essential services that TCC Youth provides to Scioto County adolescents, including Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Prevention Services. They also highlighted their close collaboration with Judge Bennett and the Scioto County Juvenile Court System to support local youth.

​Thank you to the TCC Youth team for everything you do for Scioto County’s young people! 💙 They are pictured below with Kiwanis President Kara Tieman.

Congratulations to our member and PHS Key Club Advisor Angel King! Way to go. 👏👏

Big shoutout to our very own Principal Angel King! She was awarded the Ohio Middle School Principal of the Year by OASSA!
From helping Portsmouth Junior Senior High School win a Momentum Award for increased academic achievement to helping launch "The Portsmouth Promise" scholarships in partnership with Shawnee State University, Principal King does so much to support our students and families every single day whether it be standing on the sidelines at an athletic event or supporting the performing arts, it’s clear that Principal King loves the Trojans!
We are so incredibly proud of her for bringing home this huge statewide honor! Join us in celebrating her!

Southern Ohio Cleanup Company President and CEO, Pat Timbes, right, presents a check for $3,000 to Candyland Children’s Museum Director Megan Baum. The center offers educational opportunities for children under the age of 10 and provides hands-on learning that will soon include a focus on science, technology, engineering and math.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday for our annual Kids Day in Tracy Park! Thanks to Chairman Dan DeLotell on a great job. We appreciate all of our members who turned out to help make this happen as well as about 30 members of our high school Key Clubs! Check out all the pics and captions for more info.
