🐾 Help Save Muffin: Emergency Surgery for Pyometra 🐾

Sweet Muffin needs our help. She has been diagnosed with an open pyometra, a serious and life-threatening uterine infection. With an open pyo, the infected uterus fills with pus but the cervix remains open, allowing discharge to drain. While that may sound “better” than a closed infection, it is still extremely dangerous and can quickly lead to sepsis, organ failure, and death if not treated properly.

Muffin’s owner inherited her unexpectedly from someone else and has been doing their very best to keep up with her veterinary care and give her the stable, loving home she deserves. This diagnosis has been overwhelming, but they are committed to helping her fight through it.

Muffin is currently on antibiotics to help stabilize her, but antibiotics alone are not curative. The infection is inside the uterus, and the only true treatment is emergency surgery to spay her and remove the infected organ. Without surgery, the infection will continue to progress and could become fatal.

Her veterinary team has generously discounted their fees to help make this lifesaving procedure possible. We are raising funds to cover the cost of her emergency spay so Muffin can have the healthy, pain-free future she deserves.

💜 Honoring Nutmeg’s Legacy 💜

In loving memory of Nutmeg, her dad has donated three cases (72 x 2.9oz cans) of Hill’s Prescription Diet k/d Feline Vegetable & Tuna Stew to Helping People Helping Pets (HPHP) so another cat living with kidney disease may be supported in her honor.

We are also grateful to Veterinary Hospital for helping facilitate this meaningful donation and for their continued support of pets and families in our community.

Chronic kidney disease is common in cats, especially as they age. While it isn’t curable, prescription renal diets like Hill’s k/d are essential in supporting kidney function and quality of life—yet the cost can be a barrier for many families.

✨Nutmeg’s dad writes:
“Nutmeg was a spitfire of a cat. Even at her almost 21 years she was chasing and catching mice. She loved finding the most awkward spots to nap on you and then get upset at you when you disturbed her. She was always the center of attention and would lap surf from person to person whenever we had people over. Nutmeg loved to hide under blankets and cover to sleep and always slept under my chin in my beard. She truly was a special cat to have spent so much time with her.” ✨

🧡 HPHP is accepting nominations and direct applications for a family with a cat who needs this diet.

Requirements:
• Family must reside in the state of New Hampshire
• Cat must have an active, verifiable prescription for Hill’s k/d
• Prescription will be verified directly with the veterinary clinic
• Family must demonstrate financial need and complete an application for pet food assistance through HPHP
