We are proud to announce that we are now officially a part of BSA's Adopt-A-School Program. Our Troop has adopted Simonsdale Elementary School, and we look forward to working with their Principal, Ms. King and her staff to help them continue to provide a positive and fun educational experience for all of their students.

For those of you that have been to Summer Camp with the Troop, you will recognize this. For those of you who haven't, this is Stanley County (Albemarle) N.C., where we go to camp each year. I have no word yet on how Florence has affected Camp John J Barnhardt, but please keep these folks in your prayers...they are like a second family to us!

We are sorry to hear of the passing today of Senator John McCain. Senator McCain was not only a public servant but a veteran, a former prisoner of war, a former Boy Scout, and a former Scout Leader. Thank you Senator McCain for all of your service. Please keep the McCain family in your thoughts and prayers.

Well, we made it back from Summer Camp again. Spent another great week at Camp John J. Barnhardt. We made it in last night a little before dinner. 11 Scouts and 5 Scouters...had a great time, especially the 3 first year campers...Go Nighthawks!!!!
