It is with great pleasure that the Lyford Scholarship Committee announces that 2024 Portsmouth High School graduate Shakeira Barron was the first recipient of the Stan Lyford Scholarship. Shakeira was an active member of the winter and spring track teams from 2020 to 2024. In 2023, Shakeira received the Most Improved award for her pole vault accomplishments. As part of the PHS track and soccer teams and the band, as well as in her other extracurricular activities at PHS and in local community theatre, Shakeira demonstrated impressive personal growth. She assumed greater leadership responsibilities throughout her tenure at PHS, serving as a role model for other students. Shakeira is attending Plymouth State University and studying Technical Theatre and Design.
